Ottawa in 2017

Back to the index Ottawa Marathon The day before For the fourth year in a row I decided to run t he Ottawa marathon. And this year my daughter would join me and run in the half marathon. My wife and I went on Saturday morning to the Canadian capital, we got my bib and my dau ghter 's as well, because she w ould arrive later in the day. After visi ting the expo we went out for lunch at a nice restaurant near the fine arts museum. We like d the food ver y m uch and the location was also quite good. At 3 pm we went back to the hotel (where we had left ou r car), got our room keys and wen t to o ur room. It was a g ood room, large and with a very good view. The 5K race would start at 4pm, so we stayed in the room to watch it. I liked it a lot that w e could enjoy the race from above , from the comfort o f our room . Back to the index Jeux FADOQ Montreal 2017 This year the running and the march happened in two different days, the running on Saturday, May 6th and the march on Monday, May 8th. Running On May 6th I went to the Maisonneuve Park for the running events. There would be three races: 10K, 5K and 2K. I chose to participate on the 10K, the first of the day. Arriving at the park I was surprised to see a big crowd of people of all ages. The FADOQ had paired up with the YMCA for the Spring Challenge. At first I found that good, because with more people to run with, the running gets more interesting. However, in the end, the FADOQ event ended up being swallowed by the bigger event and we didn't even have a proper medal ceremony. The day was cold and rainy, and the track in the park was full of pools of water, horrible conditions to run. I did more or less ok, finished my 10K in 52'02'', a minute slower than last year. I got a silver medal as I finished second
